Public Policy Conference

ERADICATING held a public policy conference on 2 November 2023 in Athens, Greece. The event underlined the need for an interdisciplinary approach as well as cross-sector and international cooperation for tackling human trafficking. The conference’s first day concentrated on fostering cross-sector cooperation in combating human trafficking, featuring informative labs and the exchange of good practices among experts. Notable tools developed by ERADICATING’s research team included a digital manual presented as a fairy tale and a practical guide which were also presented during the first session of the event.. The participants underscored the need for interdisciplinary approaches and cross-sector collaboration at both national and international levels to effectively tackle THB.

The second day centered on the development of intersectoral cooperation for the protection of trafficking victims. Panels discussed the Joint Investigation Team initiative’s importance and effectiveness, highlighting the essential elements of diligence, willingness, and speed. Stakeholders emphasized the victim-centered approach, underscoring the significance of cross-sector cooperation.

In the final panel, challenges and solutions related to outreach efforts in Greece, Germany, and Bulgaria were presented. Real case scenarios were discussed, shedding light on shared issues such as the lack of specialized training and experts, difficulties in recognizing victims, and the need for an efficient victim-centered approach.
